Why was my school’s Academic Progress Rating removed?
Some states don’t provide the detailed growth data we need to calculate a growth rating. In the past, we used a model that worked well for elementary and middle schools, where students take the same tests year after year. However, this approach doesn’t work as clearly for schools where students take different tests each year. Because of this, we’re removing the growth rating from affected schools across several states.
This change means we’re updating our ratings methodology to better reflect school performance and student growth. The new approach aims to provide a more accurate picture of how well schools support their students.
What schools are most impacted?
The most impacted schools are middle/high school combinations who will only be rated based on their middle school data in the following states: AK, CA, GA, IN, KS, MT, NE, NM, NV, SC, VA, VT, WV, WY
Additionally, high schools may see an impact to their Summary and Equity ratings from the removal of the Academic Progress Rating in the following states: AK, CA, GA, IN, KS, MT, NE, NM, NV, SC, VA, VT, WV, WY
